Merri Creek Exhibition

Melbourne’s Merri Creek is a much-loved waterway running through a bushland corridor – but it wasn’t always this way. The river used to be a drain, weed smothered and polluted. From 1975, community members have worked to transform the creek, and, in 2016, the Merri Creek Management committee and Friends of the Merri Creek celebrated this community-led environmental recovery with a travelling exhibition, which was displayed at libraries and other community spaces. We were engaged to design the exhibition branding and informative panels. The Merri Creek is in our backyard, and this personal connection to this environment informed our reaction to the brief. We chose a colour palate that reflects the creek, used with clean and strong typography and subtle topographic illustrative patterns.
