Dalai Lama in Australia

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a leading religious figure, with a deep meaning for many people worldwide. When we were asked to create the logo and visual identity for the Dalai Lama’s 2002 tour of Australia, which had the theme ‘Happiness in a Material World’, we drew inspiration from ancient Tibetan and Australian spiritual traditions. The result was a logo that married a mandala, which is a circular representation of the cosmos, and an Australian Aboriginal dot painting – it’s ancient and modern, timeless and temporal, earthly and heavenly. This logo has been incorporated in myriad publications and print collateral, and is still used today.
